Working for Nonprofit Events: Music for Everyone

3/13/2019

Our clients at the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association (SFYSA) had their big event of the year this month. SFYSA’s 25th Anniversary Celebration benefit concert, with the theme Silverscreen: Music for Everyone, was a smashing success. Not only did SFYSA’s event fill the Lensic for a night of family fun with movie score classics performed by the Santa Fe Youth Symphony and additional performances by renowned local artists Nacha Mendez and Jono Manson, but it also raised awareness of and $25K for the organization.
We supported the event this year in a variety of ways. We contributed to the design, look, and feel of the promotional materials, postcards, and invitations. Using those design elements, we produced the promotional video that advertised the event on social media and on KOB’s “Good Day New Mexico” morning show. We sent out various e-blasts to get concert-goers excited about the event, and booked the publicity for the concert on radio, TV, and popular event sites.

The promotional video was used to advertise the event through Facebook and Instagram and as the introductory piece to the SFYSA’s “Good Day New Mexico” TV interview.
Our services also included managing the production of the concert program and making sure the multimedia images and videos to be projected during the event were completed and ready for showtime.

We especially enjoyed helping to put together these 25th Anniversary videos that played throughout the concert and will also be used to promote each of the youth symphony’s programs. We were intimately involved with the process, from conducting interviews to adding the finishing touches while working with a videographer-editor to deliver the final product.

During the concert, we captured images of the student musicians and special guests who were performing. It was truly an inspiring night.

A reception was held at Manitou Galleries where they conducted a Painted Violin Auction.

Of course, we couldn't help but take our favorite one home!

Working with Sylvia's Irish Inn

We were staying at Sylvia's Irish Inn in Urbana, IL when we hit it off with the owners and were hired to develop their new website.

The Inn is beautiful and historic just a couple of miles from the University of Illinois, offering comfortable accommodations and an even better breakfast to its guests daily.

We couldn't resist the opportunity and look forward to sharing the beauty and comfort of the Victorian inn online. We are working to reveal the new site in July 2017.

Book Trailer Video for Poetic Memoir "Wave Rider"

We just completed author Rebecca Pott Fitton's book trailer for her book "Wave Rider: Poetic Journey from Abuse to Wholeness." Her video had a "world premier" yesterday at a private reading with friends. Rebecca was abused by her uncle (and father figure) as a child. Her journey is one of inspiration and rising from a childhood filled with abuse.

We are so proud to work with Rebecca and of all the work she's done, both internally and in writing her book. She is a voice against childhood sexual abuse. We hope her book touches many.

Book cover design: We also helped Rebecca Design the cover she envisioned for her book.

Award Winning Book Trailer - Farewell, Aleppo

It’s certainly no small task to write a book. It takes a lot of time and effort as well as determination. Our customer Claudette Sutton spent years researching and writing Farewell, Aleppo. The book was published in October, 2014 by Terra Nova Books and we created the “Book Trailer” for it. We toast Claudette for creating a moving and prescient book about her father leaving Aleppo, Syria for the United States. The past reflects the present in this great telling of a real tale.

FAREWELL, ALEPPO – Book Trailer
We produced Claudette's Book Trailer from start to finish. We conducted and filmed the interview, edited and produced the video (even the music in this case).

My Father, My People, and Their Long Journey Home

First Place winner of the New Mexico Press Women’s Award and the National Federation of Press Women’s Award (2015)

Farewell, Aleppo Synopsis:
Picture
In the middle years of the twentieth century, the fabric of society that had swaddled the Jews of Aleppo, Syria, for more than two thousand years was being rent apart by the powerful surge of Arab anti-Semitism.

To Selim Sutton, a merchant with centuries of roots in the Syrian soil, it was clear that his family must find a new home. With several young children and no prospect of getting enough visas, he devised a savvy plan for getting his family out: “exporting” his sons. For the oldest of them, Meïr —soon to be renamed Mike—thus began an odyssey that was to take him more than halfway around the world, to Shanghai where he survived the Japanese occupation throughout World War II, and then on to a new life in America.

It is a tale that his daughter, journalist Claudette Sutton, tells now in Farewell, Aleppo, a poignant narrative blending her family’s individual lives with the broader story of a people’s survival over millennia, in their native land and far away, through the strength of their faith and their communities. Multiple threads come richly together as she observes their world from inside and outside the fold, shares an important, and nearly forgotten, epoch of Jewish history, and explores universal questions of identity, family, and culture.
