Launching A Virtual Non-Profit Fundraiser: R.A.W. Tuba Film Screening

The Project
A long time client of ours, the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association (SFYSA), had a unique struggle as the COVID pandemic spread across the world. As a resource for musical education, social distancing meant having to change not only the way they brought students together to create music, but also how they shared that music with the community, and even how they did fundraising. After a collaboration was established between SFYSA and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival (SFCMF), these organizations came to us with an idea for a virtual event that would way to reach the community and live up to the excitement of annual benefit concerts held in previous years. The event would be a virtual screening of the film R.A.W. Tuba: From Sandtown to Symphony.

The documentary spotlights the life of Dr. Richard Antoine White, local principal tubist, professor, and the first African American to earn a doctor of music degree in tuba performance. Tracing his life from his childhood, experiencing poverty and intermittent homelessness, to his ultimate musical accomplishments as a tubist, the film is an invitation to follow Dr. Richard White's inspiring journey.
Click to watch the trailer.

The goal of this project was to share Dr. White's story with the local community and especially young students and musicians in the making who could benefit from this beautiful reminder of the limitless possibilities in store for them.

As this project was coming to life, our work was cut out for us.

Logo Design: Dulce Vita Skincare

As we started working with small business owner Elva Gurule, to re-brand her skincare business, Dulce Vita Facials in Santa Fe, New Mexico, one of the first steps was to prepare a color palette and of course, a logo.

The design process started with a brainstorming session to gather inspiration and make sure we understood what Elva had in mind. In the brainstorming session we learned that Elva wanted a hibiscus flower incorporated in her new logo. For her, this flower represents a natural healing element, and this fits well with her brand's commitment to health and natural beauty.

For the first round of designs, we started with some minimal designs featuring droplets of water, flowers, and the new brand name: Dulce Vita Skincare.

Show Don't Tell: Photography and Your Story

Our clients' journey, more often than not, begins with a fresh photoshoot.

Any photo can claim a spot in this digital space, but GOOD photography can set the tone for all messaging and make a great first impression.

For our team, there’s nothing like getting that first glimpse at the final shots, when we start to envision the messaging and design, extract color palettes, and start connecting all the dots that make up the full client story.

Great photos share your story in a visual way, and help your ideal client visualize themselves immersed in your experience. This is your chance to set the mood, speak the same language, and tell them without telling them.

Marketing with Purpose: Vista Living Care

Yesterday we spent the day in Las Cruces, NM visiting with our clients at Vista Living Care. Here we are with Blanca and Monica at the beautiful Arbors Home. And no, Kristen and Mari did not plan to wear inverted outfits.

Vista Living Care has three residential facilities in New Mexico. Two in Santa Fe (Sierra and Hermosa) and one in Las Cruces (The Arbors).

They specialize in dementia and Alzheimer’s elder care. We have been working with them for over three years, but had only met and visited with the folks at the Santa Fe homes.

We truly admire their hard work and passion for heart-centered care for those who need it most. You literally walk into any of their locations and immediately feel that these are real homes where they pay attention to every detail when it comes to memory care.

We are proud to support their work through communications, eblasts, newsletters, marketing strategy, design, website and social media management.

We had an impromptu photoshoot at the beautiful El Pinto Restaurant which served as our office this afternoon in Albuquerque. 100% recommended, a beautiful space to have your meetings and get inspired. We’re working on some really exciting new Marketing and Branding projects with single issue organizations to help keep New Mexico clear of nuclear waste. We’re working with some great folks who really care about our environment and we can’t wait to share more along this journey. We were thrilled to be able to meet in person today for our brainstorm, a real treat when our team is usually scattered around the world.

Website Re-design : Vista Living Care

With 3 memory care homes across New Mexico, Vista Living Care is an incredible resource for those living with dementia as well as their families. We had already been working with VLC for more than 3 years on marketing and social media when we took on the project of re-designing their website.

When pandemic times made family visits difficult, Luke Nachtrab, owner, asked us for a website that would be better suited to the changing needs of his business and would help keep families a close part of the living communities. The transition to Kartra meant we could update the site, reorganize content, and create new spaces for VLC's activities.

Author Video Book Trailer - "How My Brain Works" by Barbara Koltuska-Haskin

by Kristen Romero

We recently had the pleasure of working with Dr. Barbara Koltuska-Haskin, a neuropsychologist in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Barbara just wrote and released her first book, How My Brain Works: A Guide to Understanding in Better and Keeping it Healthy. Her intentions for this book were to share the knowledge and expertise that she had gained from over 30 years of clinical and research based experience in the field. Barbara wanted to craft it in a way that would be easy to understand for the average reader, and hopefully inspire them to think more about taking steps to enhance and protect their brain health.
We suggested creating a book trailer so that Barbara could share an inside look at her book, in her own words that could be easily shared with potential readers. We met with Barbara at her office in Albuquerque and filmed an interview with her. From this interview we were able to edit and compose her book trailer. A few weeks later, she had an online author event hosted by her publisher where we were able to debut and share her trailer with everyone for the first time.

Barbara was great to work with throughout the entire process, and we had a ton of fun letting our creativity flow with this trailer.

The wide range of useful information contained in How My Brain Works can help the reader in many ways: basic understanding of this unique organ, advice for anyone concerned about the possibility of a cognitive problem, and the wisdom of the author’s experience in helping her many patients and others to keep their brains healthy and working at their highest level. Students with learning problems, young people considering varied career paths, victims of brain injuries or mental disorders, the middle-aged and elderly at risk of dementia—all can gain from the knowledge Dr. Barbara Koltuska-Haskin has gained in her many years as a practicing neuropsychologist. In easy-to-understand language, she explains the countless ways the evaluation process she uses can help people in a wide variety of situations, and how the results can be used for maximum benefit.
Plus, building on this information, Dr. Koltuska-Haskin offers a wealth of advice and tips on how to build and maintain optimum brain health. Reaching widely into the physical, psychological, nutritional, and spiritual worlds, she pulls together new research as well as age-old treasured learning to create an everyday guide to harnessing our most powerful mental tools in shaping the healthful and successful lives we all seek.

Vanesa Nicolosi, a personal trainer who moved back to Madrid from Dubai in 2020, had been promoting her business through social media when she decided it was time to take the next step.
Picture
In the midst of the pandemic, she started working with Mari to rebrand and reestablish herself and her business in the local community. In these branding sessions, Mari helped Vanesa define her unique value and offering in the personal fitness field. Together, they analyzed Vanessa’s current clientele profile and identified new potential client groups, finding what they called” ‘the ideal customer” for Vanesa in today's digital age. For the visual rebranding, Mari established a color palette which was inspired by the content Vanesa was already sharing on social media.
