Mari is a crucial support to the success of our non-profit...we have created a professional image and beautiful marketing. Her belief in our mission and understanding of our work, are great assets to our planning and reach.
-Andrea Cassutt, Executive Director at the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association
Mari began her college studies at St. John’s College in Santa Fe, where she studied the Great Books, before receiving degrees in International Business and Marketing from Universidad del Valle de Mexico, a Laureate International University in northern Mexico, where she spearheaded the first V-Day "Vagina Monologues" benefit event in the region. Upon moving to Santa Fe, she managed the nonprofit Maria Benitez Institute for Spanish Arts, promoting workshops, educational programs and performances for youth and professional flamenco artists, before assuming the executive directorship of Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association. At the SFYSA, Mari nearly doubled the operating budget and developed new communications and information systems for the youth music organization. She orchestrated collaborations with local flamenco companies and state-wide tours for the performing mariachi groups.
In 2016, the Santa Fe Community Foundation identified Mari as an Emerging Social Sector Leader. Since then, Mari has also served as a panelist for the New Mexico Arts Division grants for Arts Learning in the Schools and in Community. She joined the New Mexico Book Association in 2017, where she produces and designs the NMBA’s monthly Libro Nuevo Newsletter. She enjoys combining her non-profit and marketing experience with her lifelong appreciation for the arts, to strengthen arts and social service organizations while serving the community.
